The Promise of the Holy Spirit
Again I’ve had issues with the site, so posting didn’t happen, but the site is up today!
I was reading in Luke chapter 12 today, and verse 10 stood out to me. Why does that verse say that if we speak evil against the Holy Spirit, we won’t be forgiven? It doesn’t say that the same thing will happen, if we speak evil against the Father or the Son. I did a study on what the Holy Spirit was given to us to accomplish in our lives, the church, and in the world. What He does is quite extensive from bringing us to God through Jesus, to giving us power to live this life victoriously and help others to do the same. One particular verse is so profound that I wanted to share it with you now.
Ephesians 1:13 King James Version
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
The part of the scripture I am focusing on is the last part that is in italics and bold. The original Greek says, “You are stamped with a mark for security and preservation from the Holy Spirit which is God’s guarantee of good (to us).” He’s in charge of making sure we get every good thing both now in the next life.
So why is the penalty so severe for speaking evil against the Holy Spirit? Because without His leading and His working in our lives, we can never receive all good that God has for us, and that includes and starts with the New Birth.
