Happy Easter!

I thought it appropriate to give you God’s summation of what Jesus bought for us according to Is 53:3-5. This is a direct translation from the Hebrew:

3 (Jesus was) despised, rejected of men; a man of anguish, affliction, grief, pain, and sorrow knowing by experience malady, anxiety, calamity, disease, sickness, and grief. We hid our faces in contempt (as He was) penetrated between, within, and throughout.

4 Surely (He) bore our malady (def=any disease of the body esp one that is chronic or deep seated. Any undesirable or disordered condition), anxiety, calamity, disease, and sickness. He carried our anguish (def=severe mental or physical pain or suffering. Excruciating or acute distress, suffering, or pain), affliction (def=something that causes pain or suffering), pain, and sorrow interwoven with the wounds that were given, Elohim looking down.

5 (He) was wounded to dissolve our rebellion, beaten to pc’s for our perversity (def=deliberate desire to behave in an unreasonable way, contrariness), for our moral evil, faults, mischief, and iniquity (def=immoral or unjust wickedness=injustice). The chastisement (def=the infliction of corporal punishment, severe punishment or loss or pain imposed for doing wrong) was for our shalom (Hebrew def=safety, happiness, well being, health, prosperity, peace, wholeness, wellness, rest). His stripes, wounds, bruises, hurts mended us, cured us, caused us to heal, made us whole.

We didn’t just get eternal life when Jesus went to the cross. We got redeemed from the curses that came upon us because of Adam’s sin. Just like we received Jesus into our lives by praying a prayer of salvation by faith, so it is how we receive the healing of our souls, bodies, and our lives. What a wonderful God we serve!
