Strongholds
Spiritually speaking, we often think of strongholds as the places where satan has held someone in bondage for a period of time. It could be in fear, hate, unforgiveness or bitterness to name a few areas. Recently, I was asking God about an area I am believing for victory over. God gave me Ps 27:1-3 to answer my question.
Psalm 27
1 The Lord is my Light and my Salvation—whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
The word “stronghold” stood out to me. I felt the Lord say, “Make Me your stronghold rather than the allowing the enemy to give you his.” I never thought of God as my stronghold, though I’ve read this scripture many times before. I always thought a stronghold was strictly a belief the enemy tries to set up in someone’s life that’s contrary to God’s Word. Now God wanted me to make His Word my stronghold–the place I run to when things get difficult, the place I uphold and defend. I chose God’s stronghold instead of the enemy’s.
Today you can make the choice to choose God as your stronghold by doing what I did—substituting God’s Word for satan’s lies. There is no torment, fear, or downside to having God’s Word our stronghold. There is only blessing and great reward.
