Labor Day

I tried to post this on Monday, but again had issues getting on the site. Here it is now.

We celebrate Labor day recognizing the contributions workers make to America’s strength and prosperity. This brought to mind the labor we are to do as Christians in the Body of Christ. Paul writes:

Hebrews 4:11 King James Version

11 Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest

Paul is encouraging us to make our labor to enter into God’s rest. Everything in the Kingdom of God is opposite the world’s ways. In the world we work so we can rest later, and in the Kingdom of God we work while we rest in complete trust in the integrity of God to keep His Word. This is where the labor comes in. We can be stressed or get into fear concerning our circumstances, the devil or allowing our own doubt and unbelief to overshadow our trust in God. We, therefore, have to work to block any pressure that could stop us from remaining in His rest. Resting in God releases the power of God to bring to pass what we are believing for. An important part in being able to enter into God’s rest is being led by the Holy Spirit and being obedient to what He tells us to do. Hebrews chapter 3 further explains this, and I encourage you to read the whole chapter. I believe the Amplified Classic translation of the Bible best explains what I’ve been talking about. The bottom-line is if we want to see the promises of God fulfilled in our lives we must trust God with all our heart, rest in His faithfulness, listen to His voice, and do what He says.
