Psalm 8
First I will apologize for not posting for some time. I’ve still had trouble logging on to this site. I believe it is working better now, and plan to post more often.
Recently in my prayer time, I needed some answers from the Lord. He gave me Ps 8. I was not really understanding what that Psalm meant to me in the situation, so I felt lead to go back to the Hebrew. This is how Ps 8 is translated from the original Hebrew. I used the Strong’s concordance. Here it is:
Psalm 8
To the chief musician, a psalm of David.
Jehovah Adonai, powerful is Your position, honor, authority, and character in the earth giving grandeur to the sky, clouds, and where celestial bodies revolve.
2 In the mouths of babies that nurse are laid a foundation of strength to vex and make to cease my enemies, and to punish them and avenge myself.
3 I look at the heavens the work of Your fingers–the moon, the stars that You established.
4 Mortal man remember. Son of mankind take charge.
5 Mankind is a little lower than Elohim and crowned with glory and honor.
6 Men were made to rule, have dominion, govern, and have power over the workmanship of Your hands putting (all things) under their feet
7 including flocks of sheep, oxen, little birds of the sky, fish of the sea that pass through the currents of the sea.
8 Jehovah Elohim powerful is Your position, honor, authority, and character!
In this Psalm He was telling me as Jesus told His disciples to be as a child. In the case of this Psalm, God is telling us to depend on Him as a nursing infant who depends totally on his mother for his very existence. This nursing infant trusts totally that when he cries out, his mom will answer and meet his need. And so must we be toward God. This faith and trust in God our Father is an important key to defeating the enemy in our lives.
The 2nd point in this Psalm is that we were made to take the dominion and authority God gave us by ruling and reigning over circumstance and over any and all darkness we may encounter. We do this by depending on God for all instruction, and any thing we may need in the natural to take this position. This Psalm makes it clear that faith as a nursing infant in his mother and taking our position of authority is God’s amazingly smart and powerful plan for His Body, the Church. In this way we bring the Kingdom of God into our lives, homes, families, churches, government, etc. making His kingdom come and His will be done.
